Keep Your Cedar Roof in Tip-Top Shape

Your cedar roof and shingle siding add to the Cape Cod curb appeal of your home. However, if they're not protected, your cedar features could dry out, split, and rot after years of exposure to the harsh New England weather. You'll notice your shingles start to grey from the effects of the sun, weather, salt, and surface rot.

Turn to Power Wash Plus for cedar roof and siding cleaning using our low pressure method. We can also apply clear or transparent colored sealer from Seal Once to waterproof and allow your cedar shingles to grey naturally while also protecting against solar radiation and mold. This sealer is designed to last 10+ years!

White Cedar vs. Red Cedar Shingles

White cedar shingles are thinner than red cedar, and more prone to drying out, splitting, and warping. Red cedar tends to last longer due to its thickness. However, if red cedar is left untreated, it can still dry out, warp, and split. The shingles can also get dark, near black streaks on the surface.

Red cedar can be painted with a solid stain that has a tannin block in its formula. We will evaluate your house to determine if it is a candidate for staining. We can also clean your red cedar shingles and apply a clear waterproofing sealant. This option protects your shingles from weather and sun damage while also allowing their natural color to show.
